Taj Mahal

Agra Uttar Pradesh India

The Taj Mahal, still one of the Seven Wonders of the World, attracts millions of visitors each year. Visitors queue to enter the tomb which is the central focus of the complex. The central iwan (arch shaped doorway) is flanked by side pishtaqs (Iranian for a portal projecting from the facade).

This image was intended to illustrate the scale of the mausoleum with the people lining up at the bottom of the image and the kites flying around the dome at the top.
